Delta State Central Secretariat, Asaba’ll Be Completed On Schedule -Sakpra
The Commissioner for Special Duties, (Governor’s Office), Hon. Henry Sakpra, yesterday expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the new central secretariat complex and is optimistic that it will be completed within the stipulated time frame, to serve as a one stop shop for government activates in the state.
Disclosing this during the 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Information, to intimate Deltans on government activities, the commissioner said that the project is being executed with constant supervision by his ministry and in conjunction with the Ministry of Housing and other stakeholders to ensure that all specifications are adhered to.
“His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State has visited the site and has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far. All things being equal, the project has a completion of 24 months and as at today, the structure has taken off the ground and is at the second floor level. This secretariat when completed will in no small way enhance service delivery to all end users,” he added.
Hon. Sakpra said that the purpose of constructing the new secretariat is to accommodate Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, with a view to reducing the cost of renting office accommodation and creating a one stop shop for the conduct of government activities, adding that it is a joined three building block with seven floors at the centre and four floors on each side.
“On completion, it is expected to accommodate over 28 MDAs and included in the building is a crèche, banks, restaurant, recreational facilities, clinic, a standard car park and safety facilities among others Let me state clearly that the secretariat is being built through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the Delta State Government and the North China Construction Company Limited at a total cost of N13,600,000 000 only,” he said.
