Saraki, Gov Ahmed Dump APC, Join PDP
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Tuesday defected from the All Progressive Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The defection which has been on the card for some time took place in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
Saraki wrote on his Facebook page thus: ” I wish to inform Nigerians that after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressive Congress, APC”
His Spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu, also confirmed his principal’s defection to THISDAY adding that a statement on the issue will be released in due course.
The defection of Governor Ahmed was announced in a statement signed by Dr. Muyideen Akorede, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications.
“Following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), having realized that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people,” the statement said.
